Vicar’s Desk
Greetings to all followers of Christ as we are one step closer to our Lord Jesus Christ through this website. We have been trying to pass the obstacle of a website for many years now but through God’s grace we have achieved one of our many goals. The content of this site took many months of planning and determination and finally it is done!
A website is not just a page on the web, for it is much more than that. A website is a way of communication between other people. Communication is an important attribute for our church to grow and it is the backbone of the church along with the liturgy. This website is the best way to communicate with other Malankarites in the United States, Canada, Europe, and the motherland India.
With the blessings and graces of our Lord Jesus Christ, His Holiness Moran Mor Pope Benedict XVI, His Eminence Cardinal Justin Rigali, His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cleemis Catholica Bava, His Excellency Bishop Dr. Joseph Mar Thomas and all the other bishops of the Malankara Catholic Church, let us share our love for the Church through this form of technology. Let us remember all the fathers of the Malankara Catholic Church especially our beloved Late Archbishop Geevarghese Mar Ivanios, Father of Reunion Movement and the founder of the Malankara Catholic Church. Let us also remember Late Archbishop Benedict Mar Gregorios, who started the Malankara Catholic Missions in North America and Europe. As we remember our church, how it formed and what risks our bishops took to come united with the Catholic Church, let us pray to God that our church will live forever.
Our Malankara Catholic Liturgy is one of the most rich and unique liturgies in the whole world. The heart of the Church is the liturgy and tradition of our people. Our Malankara Catholic Liturgy came from the Antioch Liturgy. The basic composition of the Malankara liturgy is the order of the Qurbono of St. James, first bishop of Jerusalem. But knowing our liturgy is not the only important fact, but it is to understand it. I am talking specifically to my altar servers, who are direct servers of God, along with me. It is important that the altar servers know and understand the liturgy fully to get that full affect that the Holy Qurbono gives us. This website is another way to understand your faith and keep our parish, our church, and our people united forever.
“The Malankara Catholic Church is one of the fastest growing churches in the world” said by Pope John Paul II. It is indeed one of the fastest growing churches in the world. With our church growing, let us stay true to the teachings and never forget how our church was formed. At this time I like to congratulate the webmasters and all the people who made this website a success. I’d like to also thank Bishop Dr. Joseph Mar Thomas for contributing a message for our website.
Thank You & God Bless you all,
Rev. Fr. Joseph Sundaram, Vicar Philadelphia
